Was her decision justified?

I guess in my own head, she was justified, especially if the little girl was her own child. Good mothers will kill for there own child's safety, so in my own (judgmental) head she was justified. A little extreme but in the heat of the moment who knows what lengths you will go to, to ensure safety to the vulnerable and innocent.
