Surreal whales/sharks?

I need to make a surreal painting for my art cl and I want the subject matter to focus on sharks or whales. How can I juxtapose or alter an image of a shark or whale to look surreal and dream like? ANY OPINIONS ARE MUCH APPRECIATED.
