Using cesspool vs septic?

There are very few places that allow cesspools because of the possible spread of diseases. You would have to check with your county inspector, and city building inspector (if you live in a city). In some areas, you have to have a licensed builder put in a septic tank (which can cost a couple of thousand dollars). If your lucky, your area will let you do it yourself for a lot less. It can be made of concrete blocks, metal tanks, or plastic tanks. You will also need the proper field lines. Check your library for "how to" books. I once saw someone build one with three 55 gal. drums, and field lines. Good luck.
